Norway has launched a competition for the eventual procurement of lightweight all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) for logistical purposes.

As outlined on the EU’s Tenders Electronic Daily on 31 March, the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) is looking for vehicles that are capable of operating year-round.

Examples given include snowmobiles and 6x6 ATVs, which can be used in situations where armoured vehicles are too heavy or more stealth is required.

Project scope and value

The winner of the competition will be awarded a three-year framework contract, worth an estimated value of NOK385 million (GBP30 million).

The Norwegian agency notes that there is also the opportunity to extend the contract by a further four years. This would bring the total estimated value to NOK710 million.

The deadline for companies to request participation is 4 May.

Following a pre-qualification stage, successful candidates will then enter a negotiated tender procedure.

The NDMA says that a non-disclosure agreement is not required.
