Belgium has launched a competition for the supply of uncrewed aerial vehicles under 150kg and related payload capabilities, which the country will use for proof-of-concept purposes.

The competition, announced on 26 May via the EU’s Tenders Electronic Daily, is split into three lots with the first calling for commercial and military off-the-shelf NATO Class 1 UASs.

The second lot encompasses UAS payload carriers, while lot three is for specific components and payloads.

These lot three payloads may include, among other things, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities such as cameras or radars, speakers and lights, or decoy modules.

Applicants may choose to compete for specific lots but must have prior experience of supplying NATO Class 1 UASs or payloads to militaries within the EU or to NATO member states.

The successful vendor(s) will enter into a two-year contract with Belgium. According to the competition, there is no opportunity for renewal.

The deadline to participate is 26 June.
